What kind of pricing have YOU gotten with direct mail campaigns?
Q. I have been pricing out different companies to eventually do our direct mail campaign. For about 18,000 addresses it ends up being anywhere between $7,000 to $22,000...but I have spoken with people who did it for much less, in the same area...but they refuse to give me their source:/ Either they are lying or I am just not good at finding the right company.

A. You may be going about it the wrong way. The first thing you have to consider is that direct mail is an expensive way of doing business. It will cost you -- creative, printing, lists, letter shop, postage-- approx. $1,000.00/M. That's $10.00 a name. Why so much? There's a lot of labor involved. As you mail more, the cost per name goes down. Now you have to consider that sad fact that you will get at the very very best response, which happens once in a blue moon, three percent AT MOST. That's 3 people out of every 100 mailed who may answer you. These 3 people will have to pay for the other 97. That means you have to get -- before working in profit -- $333.33 from each customer -- and that doesn't take into account the cost of the product to… [cont.]

You can be known by any name you like, if you do not want to reveal your E-mail address, you will either have to use a second E-mail account no one knows you by, or stay invisible to everyone. A. you can't directly change your email address but if you want a short Yahoo! mail address then you have to sign up or re-resister for it as a new user and then you can forward all your received mails from old address to your new email account,if you want to announce your new mail address to all your contacts then click "options" at the top-right corner of Yahoo! mail page and then click "Announce email address" at the bottom of "managenent" heading in the mail options page and all your contacts will know your new email address and send mails to it ,then you can delete your old account to save spaces of Yahoo! server.

A. Are you trying to do a promotion to get certain age groups or household incomes? A local library should have census data for nearby areas. If you're trying to find data outside of your town call on the closest major city's library and see if they have that information available online. Otherwise if you're just looking to carpet bomb an area, just grab a phone book lol

Q. I have been trying for over a month to get some sort of response from customer care as they took 10 points OFF of me when I got a best answer instead of GIVING it to me. And want it corrected. A. There is no single answer for everyone. The only way to get answers to your questions is by testing. You need to test mailing first class vs. standard class. You can also test a blind envelope (return address only) vs. teaser vs. very promotional. And if you're mailing first class, I believe its mandatory to include a return address, but you should include it anyway since it adds credibility to your mailing. Regarding the best day to mail, I don't believe there is a difference because you can't really control the delivery date once your mailing is in the hands of the post office. Rather, you'll want to avoid mailing right before holidays and possibly during summer months, as people are on vacation.

A. Yes. You would have to set up a personal "Filter", to re-direct incoming mail (from a designated address), to a separate folder, instead of the inbox. Mail page>>opt ions (top right)>>m ail options. On the left, click on "Filters"---and click "add". It's pretty much self explanatory, but basically---you enter (on the from header blank), the "exact" address you want to re-direct---cho ose a folder (or make a new one here)---then click "add filter". This tutorial should answer any questions you have about working with filters.
